Each April one of the Caribbean's most popular and prestigious ocean yacht sailing races takes place in the waters off this beautiful island. Antigua Sailing Week pits some of the world's best skippers and crews against one another in a series of regatta races. My three day introduction to sailing began with two days of on the water basic training provided by Ondeck Antigua. I then joined skipper Tony McBride and the trainee crew of Ondeck's 65ft Spirit of Juno for the kick off round the island all-day race, followed by the regatta's kickoff parade. During my time on island I stayed at the lovely Carlisle Bay Resort. If you want to learn to sail I can't think of a better place to try it than Antigua.
