Every fall polar bears gather on the shores of Hudson Bay near Churchill, Manitoba. Once the sea ice freezes they venture out onto it to hunt for ring seals, their main source of food. The Churchill Wildlife Management Area is one of the best locations in the world to view and photograph polar bears in the wild. I recently spent a few days there exploring the sub-arctic landscape and searching for the majestic polar bear and other arctic wildlife as a guest of Frontiers North Adventures. I also took some sled dogs out for a spin at nearby Wapusk Adventures, Canada's largest sled dog kennel and a leader in this northern mushing community.
